About Adoption UK’s Online Community Welcome to Adoption UK’s Online Community. Since 1971 Adoption UK has provided support, information, advice and encouragement to adopters. The Online Community was launched in 2003 to provide an extra avenue of support, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It won the Charity Website of the Year Award the following year and now receives around two million hits each month.
What can I find here? We have a wealth of information on adoption, parenting and family life, from the adoption process itself to issues that can arise throughout adoptive childhood and beyond. The website is updated daily with news, features and more being added all the time. Members post on our Message Boards throughout the day and night, looking for your support or waiting to answer your questions.
Finding your way around The Online Community is easy to navigate, with all pages accessible from the menu bars on the left hand side of the screen. If your cursor changes to a hand then the text you are hovering over is a link, clicking on it will take you to a new page.
Posting on the Message Boards The Online Community Message Boards are an invaluable source of help and support to community members. When you post on the boards your Online Community username will be displayed, so it is important when you register to ensure this protects your identity. Make sure you read the Rules of Use before posting for the first time; these exist for your protection and to keep the experience enjoyable and supportive for everybody, so please respect them.
Getting involved Becoming a member of Adoption UK’s thriving Online Community will enable you to make the most of the site. You can interact with other members on the Message Boards, enter our popular competitions, submit your own Survival Strategies and Silly Stories and keep up with the latest adoption and parenting news. We also send regular email newsletters to keep you in touch with the Online Community’s newest developments.
