Volunteering for Adoption UK is a great way to support and meet other adoptive families in your area. It can also be a lot of fun and is a good way to make new friends, as well as learning new skills and gaining valuable work experience.
Our network of Volunteer Coordinators offer information, support, encouragement and guidance to our members at a local level.
Adoption UK is always looking for volunteers to join the team, whether to set up new support groups, or lend a hand to an existing group.
Adoption UK volunteers are adoptive parents (i.e. legally adopted their child or children). They are people with enthusiasm, some time to spare and share, have a general interest in others and an awareness of and an interest in developing their knowledge of adoption and related issues.
Our volunteers offer encouragement and support to people interested in adopting children, prospective adopters, approved adopters and adoptive parents.
Through group meetings and family get-togethers, they provide the opportunity for prospective adopters and adoptive parents to get to know each other in their local communities. These opportunities to meet up and share experiences are invaluable to our members
Our volunteers are our local community representatives and their role within the organisation is highly valued. Adoption UK is committed to the training and development of its volunteers including attendance at a comprehensive two day induction training programme prior to taking up their role and ongoing training and support.
If you could offer a regular commitment of between six and 15 hours per month you could help Adoption UK to run local support groups.
