  Coordinators

On these pages of the website you can learn about:

·         Coordinators in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland (this page)

·         The role of a Volunteer Coordinator

·         Adoption UK support groups – where are they?

Adoption UK’s Volunteer Coordinators are a network of adoptive parents who run support groups for other adopters and prospective adopters in various locations across the country, from Perth to Penzance.

Coordinators offer information and support through group meetings and family events, providing the opportunity for prospective adopters and adoptive parents to get to know each other in their local communities. These opportunities to meet up and share experiences are invaluable to Adoption UK’s members.

England and Wales
New groups have now been set up in East Sussex, Norfolk, and Lincolnshire.

We now also have Buddy Support Schemes running all over England and have started recruiting buddies on a national basis.

Buddies are experienced adoptive parents who are linked with other adopters to help the family with any issues or concerns that crop up during the early weeks of placement, or for additional support if they experience difficulties later in placement.

We are always keen to recruit more volunteer coordinators, wherever you live. To find out more about becoming a Volunteer Coordinator or a Buddy in England or Wales contact Volunteers’ Support Manager Sharon McCall.

Scotland

Adoption UK has a regional office in Edinburgh and currently runs support groups in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth, Paisley and the Borders. Meetings will also be starting shortly in East Lothian. We would like to recruit new coordinators to start groups in Ayrshire, Aberdeen and North Lanarkshire.

Northern Ireland

Adoption UK’s Northern Ireland office is located in Antrim. There are support groups running in Ballymena, Bangor, Carrickfergus, Causeway, Enniskillen, Foyle, Magherafelt, Moy, Newcastle, Newry, Omagh and Belfast. We are currently looking for Volunteer Coordinators to run support group meetings in Bangor, Carrickfergus and Moy.
